Lane Carrick is the Managing Director of The 86 Group. Lane began his professional career in 1980 and has 40 years of experience in the financial services industry and as a private investor in a variety of businesses and industries.
After ten years of experience as a stockbroker with a New York Stock Exchange member firm, Lane founded one of the first “fee only” private investment advisory and trust companies in the Southern United States. His advisory practice evolved into a multi-family office with locations in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri, Denver, Colorado, and San Francisco, California. The firm launched subsidiary companies to invest in private equity, hedge funds, and Commodity Trading Advisors. Lane sold these companies to a large, national firm in 2011.
Lane was also a founding shareholder and/or director for several banks based in West Tennessee. He served on the Board of Directors of Community Bank of Germantown – a publicly-traded bank holding company; he served as a founding shareholder of Enterprise Bank; he served as an Advisory Board Member for SouthTrust Bank of Memphis; and he served as the founding shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Triumph Bancshares and Triumph Bank.
Lane has been involved – personally and professionally – in the formation, operation, growth, purchase, and sale of dozens of businesses in the financial services, food and beverage, health care, and technology sectors.
Lane received his Bachelor of Professional Studies (Psychology and Finance) degree from the University of Memphis and his Master of Science degree in Banking & Financial Services from Boston University. He is also, an instructor (currently teaching Mergers & Acquisitions) with the Business Leadership Center of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
